GNTO: Authentic Experiences Can Enhance Greek Yachting Tourism

The inclusion of authentic experiences on yachting and sailing trips will further enhance the Greek tourism offering, said Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) President Angela Gerekou during the 2nd Panhellenic Yachting Conference that opened in Athens on Friday.

Gerekou referred to the contribution of the segment to Greece’s recovery in 2022, adding that it was a top priority to attract travelers interested in yachting and sailing experiences all year round.

At the same time, she said repositioning the Greek marine tourism market should be next on the agenda. This she said should follow the focus of the national marketing strategy for the promotion of ‘brand Greece’, enhancing the “sea and sun” model as well as dynamically repositioning the country as a top of mind sustainable destination offering a multitude of authentic experiences 365 days a year.

Actions should include “enriching this model with multi-thematic, authentic experiences, such as highlighting pristine, coastal and island destinations and the authentic way of life of small local communities, gastronomy and culture, wellness experiences,” said Gerekou.

The GNTO chief also said that Greece could tap into “green yachting” experiences offering visitors eco-friendly trips to the country’s ‘smart’ islands

In this direction the GNTO promotes Greek yachting experiences through its participation at international tourism shows, organizes fam trips and global campaigns which promote Greece as a 12-month destination. At the same time, the Greek tourism board is reaching out to new and more markets with the opening of branches in Madrid and Melbourne.

The Greek Travel Pages (GTP) is a media sponsor of the 2nd Panhellenic Yachting Conference.
