Mrs. Gerekou<\/strong> since August 2019-2025 has been appointed, President of the Greek National Tourism Organization, by decision of the Greek Government and the Ministry for Tourism.<\/p>\n

Angela Gerekou was born in the island of Corfu. She holds a degree from the School of Architecture<\/strong> of the University Of Rome, Italy.<\/p>\n

She has worked as an Architect for the Hellenic Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works, on special programs for the renovation of underdeveloped areas of Athens and she has also worked out a great number of architectural projects for the island of Corfu.<\/p>\n

Angela Gerekou<\/strong>, also has a significant career in acting. She studied in Derek Jakoby\u2019s \u201cLondon Academy of Performing Art\u201d in London, UK and she was a member of Federico Fellini\u2019s<\/strong> student group in Italy.<\/p>\n

She is also a member of the European Film Academy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She held the main female role in the British-Greek production \u201cThe Girl of Mani\u201d, which was presented in the International Film Festival of Cannes and<\/strong>\u00a0has acted in many plays for cinema, theater and television and she has worked with many distinguished Greek directors.During the years 1987-1988, she was amongst the founding members of the \u201cCultural Movement for the Ionian Islands\u201d \u2013 a cultural group whose aim was the revival of the traditional genre of the Ionian Theater, through collaborating with many notable political and cultural personalities.
Since 2011 she is President of the Board of Directors of the Ionian Cultural Center which hosts since then the Corfu Festival of Arts.<\/p>\n

She is also a member of the European Film Academy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As an actress<\/strong>, she starred in the Greek-British production “The Girl of Mani”, which was presented at the Cannes Film Festival.
She has worked in cinema, television and theater and has collaborated with many important Greek directors and actors.
She also was a key member of the Ionian Cultural Movement, which aimed at the revival of the Ionian theater during the period 1987-1988, in which a large number of political and artistic personalities of the Ionian Islands participated.<\/p>\n

Angela Gerekou has also an important acting career.<\/strong>
She holds a degree as a graduate of the Academy of Theater Studies in London, while he joined and studied in the actor team of the famous Italian director Federico Fellini.<\/p>\n
